As a Miami
native, I spent most of my teen years boating in Biscayne Bay, the
Keys and the 'Glades and have always felt a spiritual connection to
this tropical paradise that I call home. I love it here and feel an
obligation not only to be a good steward of the environment, but
also to share my experiences and my enthusiasm for South Florida
with others. I graduated from University of Florida with a
B.S. in Science in 1978 and, though I loved my time in Gainesville,
I believe there's no place like South Florida. My wife and I
and our two daughters make our home in a very special neighborhood,
Davie West, and still enjoy a Sunday morning water ski and a Sunday
evening Advil.
So,
come on everyone! Let's be mindful of the very precious
resource that defines and enhances our quality of life and draws
people from all around the world to South Florida. Environmental
integrity is essential for our economic stability and prosperity, so
help us take care of our waterways, and they'll take care of us!
I
served on the Central Broward Drainage District (now the Water
Control District) in the early 1990's when we first introduced grass
carp into the canals as an alternative to chemical weed control.
It was a great success! It is my good fortune to be back on
the Board serving my community and through our Outreach Program, my
fellow Commissioners and I will do everything we can to educate and
engage all of you in an effort to promote the health of our
waterways.
I
also serve on the Board of Directors at the Grand View Palace Yacht
Club where I keep my boat in Miami and serve on the Board of
Directors for the Davie West Home Owners Association, for some
twenty years, now.
